10,000th student to sign on for the Kids for Kids 2013!
Last week, Karaka’s Charlotte McConnell, from Te Hihi School, became the 10,000th student to sign on for the Kids for Kids 2013 concert series. Charlotte will be part of a mass choir, of between 500-600 South Auckland-based school children, performing in the 12 and 13 September shows.
The students at Te Hihi school will join thousands of other kids, around the country, who are now busy rehearsing some of New Zealand’s favourite anthems, ahead of the first World Vision Kids for Kids concerts for 2013.
To celebrate the 10,000th student to register we went to Te Hihi School in Karaka with Jackie Clarke and Nathan King and had a little singalong. Check out the video here.
The Everything is Ka Pai album is a compilation album of the show songs: original tracks recorded by the original artists. This collection of Kiwi culture parallels the Kids for Kids concerts being held all over New Zealand – involving tens of thousands of Kiwi kids and their families – performing these same classic tunes, including Brooke Fraser’s ‘Something in the Water’, Herbs’ ‘Sensitive to a Smile’ and Fred Dagg’s ‘Gumboots’.

We are thrilled to announce that we have two new faces fronting Kids for Kids. Each show will be fronted by either kiwi icon Jackie Clarke, or former Zed frontman Nathan King.
Jackie Clarkeʼs illustrious career has seen her on stage and screen, as well as performing with The Lady Killers (with Tina Cross, Suzanne Lynch and Annie Crummer), The Darlings, Jubilation Gospel Choir, When the Catʼs Been Spayed, and guesting with the NZSO, APO, Wellington Vector Orchestra, CSO, ACO, Dunedin Sinfonia, Dave Dobbyn, Annie Crummer, and more! Jackieʼs also a core artist of the iconic Coca Cola Christmas in the Park events and was a judge on New Zealand Idol.
Nathan King is a gifted and passionate songwriter. Only five years after strumming that first chord, Nathan found his songs and exceptional voice at the heart of multi-platinum, award-winning success as his band Zed saw their debut album shoot to number one. Nathan found himself honing his craft in front of thousands of fans in Australasia touring with Robbie Williams and Coldplay and in the US and Europe with the likes of The Calling, Ash and Seal. In 2001, he was nominated as Best Songwriter and won the Best Male Vocalist award at the New Zealand Music Awards. In 2005, Nathan released his first solo album and has recently been working on his new band ʻPaper Planeʼ.
Kids for Kids is excited to announce we have a brand new show for 2013!
